joining a religious cult/being to religious.

I think this lecture was one of the most insightful lectures so far.
could being religious or 'too religious' be a bad thing? that depends on what people see as being to religious or extreme.
for example some Muslim women wear a robe it is free flowing long piece of clothing which does not distinguish your figure, usually in the colour black.
as it is not very common it is seen as them being to religious and 'extreme' that's the term which is mainly used.whereas for the Muslims it is normal so upon hearing comments like this they think what is extreme about covering up your body.
the same happened when ladies started wearing scarfs, at that point is was seen as oppression and extremism but over the years is has become common and turned in to a fashionable thing!!
so in conclusion it is just based on what is common in our society, and known as the 'norm'.
on the other hand of being religious even talking about religion can give of the image that a person is to religious.
i also think there is a difference between preaching about your religion and debating your religion, putting others down for what they believe in.
preaching is talking about the beauty of your religion or religions and helping others understand it, which would bring people closer together.
where as debating turns in to an argument where you end up pointing out the bad aspects of the religions which causes conflict!!

this website gives you descriptions of various religions and ethical systems.
